A vertical aerial view
offers a unique perspective that is not possible from the viewing trail
seen below. Volcanic energy heats up groundwater which wells upwards
through cracks in the earth's crust. As it flows outwards and cools
it forms temperature zones inhabited by colourful, heat tolerant bacteria
and algae. Photograph taken from a helicopter while working on an IMAX
large format film production.
