Lambeth Palace has been the residence of Archbishops of Canterbury since the year 1209. The Palace has been visited by kings and queens, attacked by Wat Tyler's rebels, invaded by Cromwell's army and bombed by German aircraft. It has been used as a prison for non-believers in the Catholic faith and is the place where Cranmer composed the Book of Common Prayer. |
